The main vehicle is phaeton in Princess Islands for transportation. You can get the utmost enjoyment out of tours of island by phaeton. Second place of transportation are bicycles.
Phaeton(Faeton) origin is French. They have four wheels. Fore wheels are small, aft wheels are big. It is hitched to carry on by two horses but one pole. Four passengers can get on. The driver sits at front part. There is a special bellow against raining. Also there is rubberized cover for legs. The driver wears raincoat.
There are two lanterns on each side. They have been decorated specially. The phaetons for hire were more ornamented in the history past.
The hired phaetons amount have been reduced nowadays almost completely removed. You can't find them in Istanbul. But they are only carriage vehicles in Islands because of motorized vehicles are prohibited to use.
May be you can meet some of them seldom in Kadikoy, Uskudar, Erenkoy, Pendik areas or so.....
