SULTANBEYLI

The history of Sultanbeyli has been going to the begining of the 6.century.Here was controled by Rome and Bizans empire for long years.

Sultanbeyli was conquered by Ottoman army which was command of Abdurrahman Gazi and Konur Alp with the order of Orhan Gazi in 1328.After the conquest,Abdurrahman Gazi got married with the daughter of Aydos Castle’s Sovereign.This marriage left big memories which aren’t being removed from eighter Türk’s or Greek’s memories.The ruins of Aydos castle which are carriying the marks of this memory are still exist.

There are also informations about Sultanbeyli in the inscriptions like Tevarihi Ali Osman and Kitab’ı Cihannüma.The main owner of the lands in Sultanbeyli is Hasan Hüsnü Pahsa who was the first minister of navigation of the Ottoman State.II. Abdülhamid gave Sultançiftliği to Hasan Hüsnü Pahsa as his dept in reply to the services  he made.This historical fact has been appearing in the map in the Ottoman Türkish language which Hasan Paşa had it made in 1910.
When Hasan Hüsnü Pahsa died in 1922,the deeds of these lands which he was owner by his son was caught by Jew people named Frans Filipson,then had been sold to the shareholders today’s by the inheritors of Frans Filipson.

Besides,the immigrants who was brought from Bulgaria in 1945 was settled down here and they weren’t given deeds but given usage right.The 7500 acre part of the lands in Sultanbeyli distributed to these our immigrant compatriots with nationalization in 1945.
The forest managing had brought the 18000 acre land out of the forest in 1957 and 14000 acre of these lands are still in the Sultanbeyli.
Here became village in 1957,in 1989 neighbourhood and with 03.06.1992 date and 3806 law became county.

Its surface area is 35 acre.It has been filling the place which is between Aydos mountain which is the biggest one in Istanbul with 537 altitude and Teferrüç mountain.Tem highway has been passing through the county.
The county is sorrounded with Paşaköy-Samandıra which dependent to Kartal county at the North,South and west,at the east Kurtköy which dependant to Pendik and county has 15 quarter.The height from the sea is 130 meters.

The Population Situation:

Because of this place being a new settlement district and being fast population increase,its population fixed as 144.869 in 1997 and 175.771 in 2000 although it was 3600 in 1985 and 82.289 in 1990.

The Managerial Situation:

There is a municipality which dependent on county but there is no village.There are 15 quarters in the boarders of the municipality.
